Rest with Mediation is the key to a stress-free pregnancy
We all know how important rest is during pregnancy but if you ever had any doubts on what is the best way to get that rest, read this book. I meditated 2 hours daily throughout my pregnancy and the entire 9 months and birth were effortless and so happy. Some of the recommendations in the book I ignored (like the modified demand feeding of your baby after 2 weeks) but the most important recommendation - learn and practice Transcendental Meditation - is the best advice I could give any expecting mother. This book is filled with convincing scientific studies if you are hesitant.

Blissful Baby is unique because it compliments any other pregnancy book in that it gives a clear view of how a woman can better know and nourish her self from her deepest level, from the source of her being; to her feelings, emotions, mind, and body. No two women are alike and no two pregnancy's are alike. No one book could answer and provide details for every single woman and what she is going through - the only expert is her! This natural system of health care focuses on Moms creating balance from with in. Some of the recommendations include customizing her daily routine,(diet, massage, and rest) based on her specific mind/body type. Rest is put on high pedestal in this book. The Transcendental Meditation Program is introduced because stress hormones are reduced during it, as well respiration rate and lactic acid in the blood. There is a lot of research behind this meditation showing that it rejuvenates and has many health benefits. There are a ton of mother's reports in this book that give proof too - that with this system of health care Moms recover from childbirth more quickly, lose their excess weight more quickly, have more energy to nurture and care for their new-born and rarely experience post postpartum depression.
Old and new wisdom for mind and body of mama and baby
I am newly exploring Ayurvedic thoughts as I am pregnant (due any moment) with my third child. I am enjoying "For a Blissful Baby" as it reaffirms information that I hold true about the mind and body connection and gives Vedic techniques (new to me) to support this connection through the entire process of birth both pre and post. I am grateful to these authors for sharing their wisdom and backing it up with antidotes and research. I look forward to developing an awareness of how ayurvedic techniques effect me especially at this time when I am so focused internally.
