Panchakarma success with chronic diseases

The transition from summer to autumn involves a huge change, in the weather and its influence on our body, and can have a significant effect on your health. The internal fire and heat of Pitta Dosha accumulates in your body over the summer and is at its maximum as autumn begins, Pitta dosha (fire/heat), and the cool and windy qualities of Vata dosha also come into play.

This is a time when Pitta disorders, particularly skin disorders, allergies, eye problems and digestive disturbances can start up. The added influence of Vata, with its moving and changeable nature, encourages the accumulated Pitta imbalances to rise to the surface.

In Ayurveda is said that this is an important time to remove any accumulated impurities, so that you stay healthy for the coming season. The classical detoxification and purification treatments of Ayurveda, known as Panchakarma are highly recommended during this transition from summer and autumn.

It is also recommended to moderate the rising influence of Vata as autumn starts:

  • Go to bed on time
  • Wake with the rising sun
  • Give yourself a daily oil massage
  • Eat at regular times
  • Be regular with your meditation practice
  • Practice Yoga and Pranayama every day.

Drinking Vata Tea and adding Vata Churna to your food are also highly recommended during autumn.
