Mung dal (also known as moong dahl) is got from green mung beans by splitting them at the time of harvest and discarding the skins. Mung dal is held to have a balancing effect on all three doshas. It is easier to digest than most other beans and dhals and can be eaten everyday. When properly cooked the mung beans have broken up and have the consistency of porridge.
