Rasayanas are revered in Ayurveda and the texts mention that they promote longevity, memory, intelligence, youthfulness, stable progeny, strength and immunity of the body, strength of the sense organs, the quality of purity, a clear voice and sweet and successful speech, respectability, and invincibility.
Amalaki, the ingredient of Maharishi Ayurveda Amla Berry, is regarded as one of the most effective rasayanas. Charaka Samhita, says of it: "Amalaki is the best among rejuvenative herbs”.
Rasayanas enhance ojas, the most refined product of digestion and metabolism. Ojas is equated with immunity and strength. The more ojas your digestion produces, the greater your immunity to disease.
By strength of ojas, the muscle tissue becomes full, all movements become free and perfectly coordinated, voice and complexion become clear, the activity of the organs of action and the sense organs become intelligent and evolutionary. Sushrut Samhita
Rasayanas convert easily into ojas and infuse qualities of ojas into the body. The skin becomes lustrous, eyes sparkling, temperament stable and blissful, mind intelligent and calm, and the body free of disease. Ojas supports the experience of higher states of consciousness.
Amalaki grows in the tropical subcontinent of India. Amla-Berry uses the wild forest variety which has smaller fruit than hybrid varieties but gives higher quality.
Maharishi Ayurveda Products follows traditional harvesting and processing methods so the refined qualities of the Amla plant can be preserved and enhanced.
Plants must be grown in a pure environment - in the wild and in protected areas far from the air and water pollution of cities, and in places where the soil and water has not been damaged by agricultural chemicals or waste material containing heavy metals.
Plant caretakers are trained in Ayurvedic methods of growing and harvesting. Ayurvedic texts specify that fruits be hand-picked at the exact peak of ripeness.
Production is exactly as described in the Ayurvedic texts. Amalaki is dried and crushed into powder, dipped in fresh Amalaki juice, then dried again. This mixture is ground into a powder and again mixed with fresh juice. The process is repeated 21 times.
Meticulous processing enhances the nourishing and rejuvenative qualities of the Amalaki. It’s rasayana qualities are enhanced several times over and the fruit’s natural intelligence is increased.
