INDIA: Special zones for medicinal plants
to be set up
The government of India plans to set up 10
special zones, which would provide support to local farmers for growing
medicinal plants. This is being done to promote Ayurveda and increase
its share in the plant-based medicines in the global market.
STUDY: Getting protein from vegetable
instead of meat sources cuts heart disease risk
US researchers at Harvard University's schools
of medicine and public health found those who ate a low-carb diet but
got more of their protein and fat from vegetables rather than animal
sources cut their heart disease risk by 30 per cent on average, compared
with those who ate more animal fats.
