1. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

It is with some sadness we report the passing of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on Feb 5th 2008. Maharishi was cremated in a traditional Vedic ceremony and the ashes put in the sacred river Ganges at three different spots.

It was Maharishi who revived Ayurveda in its completeness and who inspired us to set up Maharishi Ayurveda Products to supply prevention oriented health products around the world.

We feel grateful that the knowledge of the eternal principles of Natural Law will continue to guide us. Maharishi was cremated in a traditional Vedic ceremony and the ashes put in the sacred river Ganges at three different spots.

2. Quote - Intelligence and Perfect Health

When the total intelligence of Natural Law—Veda—is lively in the individual physiology, there is perfect synchrony between the functioning of every individual cell and the holistic functioning of the body as a whole; and between individual intelligence and Cosmic Intelligence. In this state of complete integration, all thought and action are spontaneously in harmony with Natural Law and the individual enjoys perfect health.

3. April Advice

In April, we are now in Kapha season, but we are now definitely into Spring and this is the time for spring cleaning. Because Kapha has predominated in our bodies over the last two or three months, it now becomes more liquid and fluid in the body and more easy to move around the body.

The toxins which gather in our tissues when we go out of balance are of a Kapha nature. So because the Kapha is more fluid, it’s most easy at this time of the year to eliminate these toxins from our tissues. So how are you going to spring clean your body if it’s accumulated toxins?  more

4. Maharishi Ayurveda Products – Restoring Health and Wholeness to Daily Life

The importance of good health cannot be overemphasized, as good health is the foundation for our ability to fulfil our goals in life. In Sanskrit, the word for health is Swasthya—from Swa, the Self, and Sthya, established. So the Vedic definition of a healthy individual is one who is established in the Self, in wholeness, which is the natural result of a pure, healthy and vital mind and body.  More

5. Micronutrients, Nutrition and Ayurveda

Eminent health scientist Bruce Ames reported that 40 micronutrients are essential for a balanced diet to maintain health, and that many chronic diseases arise as a result of an incomplete diet. We asked Maharishi Ayurveda practitioner Dr Greg Watras about Ayurveda and nutrition.

What does Maharishi Ayurveda recommend to obtain essential nutrients?

To make sure you have enough micronutrients be sure to have a variety of different foods in your diet, not always to keep to the same cereal, the same vegetables or the same proteins, but eat different ones from day to day.  More

Transcendental Meditation is the cornerstone of Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health, so for a good read about TM we recommend a book by Robert Roth, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's TM - Transcendental Meditation. This book covers areas like using your full mental potential, health & medical benefits, and how TM improves relationships. It discusses how Transcendental Meditation can be applied in the workplace and to improve the quality of life worldwide. There are interesting contributions from a whole range of people about the benefits they have experienced and a down to earth questions and answer sections on the scientific research, itself a fascinating topic, and on the technique.  more

10. Recipes - Desserts for Lunch and Evening Meal

Rhubarb Cobbler

Serves 4 - 5

This is a delicious and satisfying dessert which is suitable for lunchtime. Maharishi Ayurveda recommends eating locally produced food which is in season whenever possible. British grown rhubarb is now in the shops, or you may be lucky enough to have some in your garden. This recipe is very quick if you have a good food processor. It works very well with wholemeal self-raising flour.  Recipe

Couscous Milk Pudding

Serves 1

This is a quick to prepare evening dessert (or even a meal in itself if the main meal has been eaten at lunchtime), which is good for vata or pitta dosha. For those who need to balance kapha it is not so recommended, but mixing the milk with half water and substituting oats for the couscous would help to make it more suitable. The addition of quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric and a reduction in the quantity of dates would also be better for kapha.  Recipe
