2. Dr Donn Brennan’s tips – Pitta season

Now we have reached the Pitta season, so this lovely current weather means that Pitta, the fire element, is coming stronger in our minds and bodies. So it’s relevant and appropriate to think of how to balance Pitta in the summer.

There are two real fundamental things that balance Pitta: one is food and the other is fun, because what soothes Pitta is to chill out and to enjoy.

Pitta is to do with that discriminating faculty of mind, as well as the metabolisms and hormones in the body. So Pitta, by virtue of the heat of the summer, gets increased, and unless it’s kept balanced, by the end of the summer people can suffer road rage, or irritability, or obsessiveness, or inflammations like heat burn or skin rashes.

3. Ayurveda and skin - Life is found in layers

Ayurveda describes seven distinct layers of the skin, each with its own structure and function. The layers are designed so that each layer provides support to the layers above it. The skin as a whole is able to perform its overall functions effectively when all the layers are healthy and balanced. Continued at  Ayurveda And Healthy Skin

 

4. Ayurveda Massage part 2: massages for busy people and beginners

Judging by the number of visits to the website after last month’s newsletter article, Ayurvedic massage is a popular topic for our newsletter readers. This month we feature three simple massage techniques you can try at home or when travelling, all quick and easy to do - for the feet, for sleep, and the dry massage technique called garshana. NIGERIA: President Obasanjo to establish institute of traditional herbal medicine

As part of the blueprint for the development, promotion, and commercialization of traditional medicinal products, Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo wants to establish a research and training institute on all facets of traditional African herbal medicine.  more

INDIA:  European Union positive on Ayurveda

A recent conference on the manufacturing, export and distribution of Ayurveda in Europe concluded with success. The meeting was held between Indian officials and European Union representatives.  more

UK: Organic farms seen as protecting and creating more jobs

According to a study by the Soil Association, which is Britain's organic certification body, organic farming can create an average of 32 per cent more agricultural jobs than conventional farming. About 4 per cent of British farms are currently organic, and the study estimated that if all farms were to convert it would create an additional 93,000 on-farm jobs.  more
