In mid-late August we are heading towards the maximum accumulation of Pitta, so we are still well embedded in the Pitta season and that is the main dosha for most people to take care of.
Pitta accumulates in the body throughout the summer so going towards the end of the pitta season is a good time to really make a big effort to get rid of that excess Pitta.” More

Women's health; Prostate health
Women should eat a lighter diet during menstruation and menopause. A light diet for breakfast may consist of stewed apples and pears, or hot cereal. Lunch may consist of soupy split mung dahl, basmati rice, cous cous or quinoa, two types of vegetables sauteed in Ghee and spices, flat bread such as chapati, and a yogurt drink called lassi (see recipe). Dinner is lighter such a khichri (see recipe)
General advice is to pay attention to diet, digestion, elimination and routine throughout the month; do full body massage with Rejuvenation Massage Oil or other herbalised Massage Oils as often as possible. Take Women’s Rasayana tablets (MA347) regularly to support hormonal balance and the regenerative process. Genitrac tablets (MA2) give additional support. Take Triphala with Rose tablets (MA505) for several days before your period. During your period try to avoid physical and mental strain, do something you enjoy, omit body massage. Sip Smooth Cycle Tea regularly and diffuse Smooth Cycle Aroma oil.

Readers recipe – a milky drink with Vata Tea and Rajas Cup – serves 2
Boil some water. Put the contents of one Vata Tea bag, plus a heaped teaspoonful of Raja's Cup into a pan. Set cooker to electric 2, add 150ml of boiling water (a third of a pint) and then 300ml of organic whole milk. Heat mixture until nearly boiling then reduce heat to minimum. Allow to ‘brew’ for 5-10 minutes. Add a little Jaggery sugar to taste (although the Vata Tea has a sweet taste when brewed for long enough). Serve.

Q: I get to sleep OK, but frequently wake during the night and can't get back to sleep. I’ve tried some Ayurvedic advice: hot milk before bed; bed by 10 pm; sesame oil massage. What else can you advise?
A: This type of sleep problem is usually related to a Pitta* imbalance. Try the following routine:
DIET: Instead of hot milk before bed, take warm milk blended with a few dates and some banana. This will help you stay asleep. Generally follow a Pitta-pacifying diet and routine. Take foods that are cool and liquid. Favour sweet, bitter and astringent foods; reduce foods that are spicy, salty or sour.
HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS: Take Blissful Sleep – Basic and also Blissful Sleep - Pitta 30 minutes before bed time and take a Blissful Joy around 6:00 pm.
MASSAGE: Do your full body oil massage always in the morning rather than in the evening. In the evening, massage just the hands and feet with Rejuvenation Massage Oil (50%) combined with a cooling oil such as coconut or olive (50%).
If you wake during the night and can’t get back to sleep, take ½ cup of warm whole milk and 1 tablet of Blissful Joy.
