Ayurveda is all about balance, and creating balance through the senses is one of its strategies. Ayurvedic aroma oils are specially formulated to create balance through the sense of smell, either at different times of day, or for certain circumstances, such as when going to sleep, or when travelling or studying.
For example, Peace at Night aroma is used before bedtime, while Vata aroma is used when travelling because Vata dosha is aggravated by travel.
This months two special offers include one for those wishing to try an Ayurveda aroma oil for the first time and another for those of you who use aroma oils and who may like to experience the effects of Maharishi Ayurveda blends formulated for a specific health effect.

Every autumn children start back at school ready for fresh achievement and enjoyment. Or are they? School is a major part of a child's life, so how can parents ensure their children are as well prepared as possible to get the most out of the hours they spend there?
One way is to apply the knowledge of Ayurveda to enhance learning ability, and a good time to start is in the holidays during those weeks when you see more of your children and can get them into a good routine.
Ayurveda describe three aspects of mental ability: dhi (acquisition or learning), dhriti, (retention), and smriti (recall ability). When these three mental functions are balanced, a child's mind is quick and bright. When not balanced, either individually or in their coordination with each another, learning difficulties such as ADHD and hyperkinetic disorder can occur.

Travel is something that just about everyone does at this time of year, whether for work or on holiday, and Angela Landers, a Maharishi Ayurveda health consultant from Cork in Ireland, has written to us about this topic, advising what can be done to make travel more enjoyable and less stressful.
In Maharishi Ayurveda we learn that there are 3 fundamental physiological principles, called doshas, which regulate the different functions of mind and body. These are called Vata, Pitta & Kapha. Imbalance in these doshas is responsible for various disorders. Vata is responsible for all transport, movement & communication in the body. However it can easily be disturbed by change & irregular routine during travel.
