Dr Anand Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharishi Ayurveda Products Ltd, read a beautiful sentence given by Dr B.D. Triguna, past President of the All-India Ayurveda Congress and Director of the National Academy for Ayurveda in India, from a Vedic text, which depicted the ideal of human life. Translated it read,
We live for 100 years, we hear the glory of God for 100 years, we see the beauty of earth for 100 years, our (physical) movement should be for 100 years, we should be fully independent for 100 years, not dependent on anyone, we live a life of prosperity for 100 years and much more than that.
According to Maharishi Ayurveda, a holistic approach to heart health requires us to nourish the emotional heart as well as the physical heart. The heart is not just a pump - it's also the fountainhead of our emotions, whether joy, exhilaration, sadness or frustration. Emotional and mental stress can disrupt heart health.
Ayurveda offers a simple and effective approach for maintaining heart health. Heart Health
March needs to continue the theme of balancing kapha because kapha is not only increased by the heavy weather of winter, but even Spring time increases kapha because kapha is responsible for growth and so must be strong through March and April into May.
In January we emphasized balancing kapha in general. In February we emphasized exercise as a most fundamental strategy for keeping kapha balanced.
In March it’s worthwhile considering the foods you are eating and the processes of digesting the food so as to keep a better balance. Read more here

This makes a lovely Sunday lunch. It is a rich dish and cashew nuts are good for vata dosha. Maharishi Ayurveda does not recommend eating aged cheeses such as cheddar, but if you want to add cheese, adding turmeric, ginger, black pepper and herbs helps to make it more digestible and balance its kapha increasing effect. Vedic music, Gandharva Veda, are the melodies of Nature, the expression of the natural frequencies present at different times of day. These melodies, ragas, of Gandharva Veda create influences, both in the mind and body of the listener and in the surroundings.
Maharishi Gandharva Veda musicians maintain the purity of the Vedic ragas, and are part of a tradition that has been passed in a very systematic way through generations of families and teachers.
Maharishi Ayurveda Products offers a complete range of Gandharva Veda performances, for every time of day on the traditional instruments, including vocal.
On our website, www.maharishi.co.uk you can read about these ragas, their effects, the times of day they are played and the traditional health claims made for them. You can also listen to samples.
