The centuries-old medicine-predominated approach to health has failed to eliminate sickness and suffering; this is because medicine alone is too superficial to influence all the innumerable values that constitute the structure of life and its evolution. Ayurveda understands that the body is more than just physical matter. It is, in fact, a dynamic network of energy and intelligence. Food, also, is a network of energy and intelligence. The primary tool you can use for maintaining health is your diet.
